It stands to reason that the world’s best airport boasts the world’s best airport hotel. And so it is at perennial world-beater Singapore Changi Airport, where the Crowne Plaza Changi was recently named World’s Best Airport Hotel at the Skytrax World Airport Awards – for the third year in a row.
The Crowne Plaza Changi obviously isn’t your ordinary airport hotel, with a cutting edge exterior, cool green spaces and swimming area that wouldn’t look out of place at a Club Med. And that’s without mentioning the equally flashy interior, which could easily belong to one of Singapore’s stylish downtown hotels, and all of this without even stepping outside of the airport.
The 578-room, Pullman Guangzhou Airport, China, was named second best airport hotel, edging the Hong Kong Sky City Marriott, Hilton Munich Airport, Regal Airport Hong Kong and Langham Place Beijing.
The only North American property among the highest achievers, Fairmont Vancouver Airport finished a commendable seventh, while Movenpick Hotel Bahrain, Hilton Frankfurt Airport and Hotel NH Vienna Airport rounded out the top ten.
The Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport was deemed Best Airport Hotel in Australia/Pacific, followed by the Parkroyal Melbourne Airport, Novotel Auckland Airport, Novotel Brisbane Airport and Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport.
Polling travellers worldwide, the airport hotel award takes into consideration access to the hotel, its service, cleanliness, comfort, ammenities, food and beverage, value and guests’ overall experiences.
