It seems there’s plenty of truth to the old adage that first impressions last – at least when it comes to holidays.

According to recent research by Booking.com, half of all Aussies (49%) feel the first day of a vacation sets the tone for the rest of a holiday, while nearly one in three travellers say the initial hours of a getaway can make or break a trip. 

 

In its study of perceptions versus reality, Booking.com also revealed the top five hopes and worries that Australian travellers face on the eve of a holiday.

 

Apparently, what we hope might happen at the beginning of a vacation is pretty accurate, but our concerns turn out to be unfounded. Here’s a breakdown of the findings:
