A New York woman flying to Paris says she was the victim of a sexual crime, after she found out the passenger sitting beside her had been pleasuring himself whilst she slept. And while Chloe King was disturbed by the man next to her, she was more disgusted by the action – or inaction – of the crew onboard the American Airlines flight, who she said should have done more to protect her from the creepy act and passenger.
Writing in a Medium post, the 30-year-old social media manager said a flight attendant had woken her prior to landing to tell her at the back of the plane that her neighbour had been masturbating while she slept.
But King was clearly angry cabin crew hadn’t woken her earlier and moved her to a ‘safe place’, and said she wasn’t given another seat for the landing, as she had requested.
A woman on the other side who had seen the incident had already been reassigned a seat.
“Instead, they made me climb back over the sex offender, trapped between him and the window for the rest of the flight,” she wrote.
“I was shaking and crying and trying not to get sick.
“I’ll never know what exactly happened on that flight, but I do know I’ll never feel completely safe flying again.”
Upon arrival in Paris, Ms King said she reported the incident to the AA desk but was met with “blank stares”.
“I contacted the AA legal team, and after weeks with no response, all I received back was a generic email regarding the ‘disappointing service’,” she added.
The offender was arrested by French police at the airport, but according to the New York Daily News, it is not known whether he will face charges.
