AFTA launches National Mobilisation Program


The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has launched the AFTA National Mobilisation Program, an initiative that calls on members to make some noise in support of the travel industry, and especially the travel agency sector.

“We kick-started our grassroots campaign with the rollout of electorate visits, bringing travel agents together with their local MP in a strategic, coordinated, and non-partisan way,” AFTA CEO Darren Rudd said in a letter to members.

 

  

“These visits reinforced our direct advocacy at a Federal level which included AFTA Chair, Tom Manwaring, and I appearing before the Senate Select Committee into COVID, our ongoing direct lobbying of key political decision makers and continued to build awareness and support in Canberra.”

 

In addition to these electorate visits, Rudd said AFTA wanted to “make sure every single Federal Member of Parliament knows about the plight of travel agents, tour operators and travel wholesalers and we want them to support our calls for tailored support”.

 

“We need to work together to raise our collective voices even more loudly.”

 

AFTA announced today that it was lobbying the Federal Government for a special Travel Agent Support Package of $125 million.
