Agents hit the ice for an NHL training session with Arizona Tourism

The Grand Canyon State may be known for its amazing outdoor landscapes, but it’s also red-hot for sports fans as these travel advisors found.

Some Melbourne travel advisors tried their hand at ice hockey.

Arizona Office of Tourism recently invited a group of Melbourne travel advisors to hit the ice and test out their ice hockey skills ahead of an NHL Exhibition match taking place this coming weekend.

Designed to showcase the state as being ideal for sports fans – perhaps exemplified with Arizona playing host to the 2023 NFL Super Bowl in Phoenix – the event also gave agents a chance to learn about the intricacies of the sport while having fun on the ice.

While some took to the slippery surface and were mixing it up and scoring goals from all sides, others preferred to guard the wall and gradually find their feet without an embarrassing spill.

"Arizona is not just about stunning landscapes and outdoor adventures; it's also a hub for sports enthusiasts,” said Arizona Office of Tourism Account Manager, Jack Curtis.

“The NHL Exhibition match is a testament to our state's commitment to sports, and we are proud to offer agents a taste of the action through this training event.”

The event allowed agents to learn more about Arizona’s array of year-round outdoor adventure activities including hiking in the Grand Canyon, exploring the scenery of Sedona or teeing up for 18 holes at some of North America’s best championship golf courses, such as TPC Scottsdale.

Hot-air ballooning and white-water rafting also show the vast spectrum of activities available in The Grand Canyon State.
