Experience is the key ingredient for Flight Centre’s resurrected cruise brand, with its leadership group bringing many years in the industry.

Flight Centre Travel Group veteran Darren Lloyd will take charge of the reinvigorated Cruiseabout agency network as Brand Leader, rewarding a stellar 24-plus year journey with the company so far.

Since joining the company in 1999, Lloyd has held leadership positions with the Escape Travel, Student Flights and BYOjet brands in his FCTG career to date.

“With Darren steering this ship we are confident we can give Australian cruise customers the modernised and refreshed retail cruise brand they have been missing for years,” said FCTG Leisure CEO, James Kavanagh

“Our model – with a national footprint, Australia-based call centre and online booking functionality all serviced by specialist cruise experts – is the only one of its kind in Australia and we're excited to watch Darren take the helm as an incredibly experienced leader.”

Lloyd will oversee four key leadership appointments made at Cruiseabout’s new B2B wholesale arm, CruiseHQ, with Tina Giannapoulos, Carina Mullen, Caitlyn Paris and Viktoryia Schliazhko claiming key roles as Head of Operations, Head of Product, Marketing Manager and Business Development Manager respectively.

FCTG Supply CEO Greg Parker said the 20-plus years in wholesale will set CruiseHQ up for success with its B2B model.

“We are committed to making sure CruiseHQ is best-to-market and promotes real value and I believe we have the right leaders in place to help us achieve this,” Parker said.

With Cruiseabout’s first store due to open in Sydney in 2024, recruitment for roles both in-store and at its Gold Coast-based call centre will begin soon.
