Travel advisors enjoy a check-up on Philippines health tourism

One of the world’s leading nations for health tourism recently invited Australian travel advisors to learn more at a recent roadshow.

Delegates wrapped up the national roadshow in Sydney.

Health and wellness tourism was in the spotlight recently as the Philippines hosted a series of roadshow events around Australia to promote the destination as a global hub for travellers visiting to address personal health issues including dentistry.

The Philippines is one of the world’s top 25 countries for health tourism, according to recent International Healthcare Research Centre rankings, welcoming more than 250,000 people annually who are visiting for this purpose.

To grow this number further, the Philippine Department of Tourism Australia/NZ recently hosted four events around Australia, inviting travel advisors specialising in health tourism to showcase its array of world-class health facilities and relaxation activities.

Beginning in Perth and moving to Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, the series saw hundreds of travel advisors attend for a series of short presentations focusing on dental, wellness and aesthetics tourism along with a two-course lunch, all hosted by Filipino singer-songwriter David Mercado.

Each event also featured numerous opportunities for attendees to win a trip to the Philippines, with flights from Philippine Airlines and accommodation provided by various attending suppliers.

Representatives at each event included Twin Lakes Hotel; PDA (Healthway Quailed Nuvalil), SUV Dental Clinic, Cebu; Oro-Facial Diagnostics & Esthetic Surgical-Centre, Cebu; Bright Smiles Oral Care Center, Cebu; Royal Dental Clinic, Cebu; Urban Smiles Dental Clinic; Lift Aesthetic Clinic - NCR; The Farm at San Benito - Batangas and The Raya Clinic - NCR.

“The inaugural roadshow in Australia was a huge success and really highlights the importance of creating awareness and opportunities for suppliers to meet with Australian buyers,” said Philippine Department of Tourism Director for Health and Wellness Tourism, Paulo Benito Tugbang.

“We look forward to expanding on this success for next year, and we are already working hard to make it bigger and better.”
