Virgin Voyages launches Australian call centre and 16% commission for advisors

Travel advisors, also known as First Mates, can easily book Virgin Voyages through the new Voyage Store.

Virgin Voyages arrives in Australia on 4 December 2023.

Travel advisors can now utilise Australian-based sales, customer service and support for Virgin Voyages after the burgeoning cruise line teamed up with local GSA Travel The World to launch its maiden Voyage Store.

The partnership means Australian travel advisors and travellers themselves have a locally based phone line for all questions and booking enquiries related to Virgin Voyages, as Sir Richard Branson’s disruptor cruise brand finalises plans ahead of its Australian debut in December.

The Voyage Store can be reached between 9am-5pm AEDST on 1300 732 300.

Advisors can secure cabins on the line’s maiden season of sailings from Sydney and Melbourne to Tasmania and around New Zealand, enjoying 16 percent commission on all departures, with all bookings contributing to head office targets. Nett payments directly to Travel the World also mean no waiting for commission to be paid.

There’s also a dedicated Facebook group for Australian travel advisors to share advice and hear trade updates relating to Virgin Voyages, with membership now open to The Bridge – First Mates Club.

Virgin Voyages' Sea Terraces feature a private hammock on the balcony.

Virgin Voyages Vice President International Sales, Shane Lewis-Riley, said introducing an Australian Voyage Store was the latest sign of the line’s commitment to local travel advisors.

“We’re ramping up activity ahead of the brand’s debut in Australia this December, and this investment is meant to streamline the booking process for our partners,” Lewis Riley said.

“With travel demand at historic levels, we know how busy our First Mates can get. Sometimes, picking up the phone is the easiest option, and we’ll be there on the other end to help them maximise their time and to raise their sales.”

Travel advisors are also being encouraged to invite their clients to parlay existing loyalty status in a variety of competing cruise line loyalty programs to a Virgin Voyages status match in The Sailing Club.

Perks and benefits available to travellers include priority boarding, a Bar Tab or credit for laundry services through to an invitation to an exclusive onboard cocktail party.

Benefits are available on bookings made until the end of 2023.
