A new US report has found that more and more travellers are using professionals to manage their travel.
However, it isn’t cashed-up baby boomers leading the movement towards travel agents, but the supposed unlikeliest of sources: Millennials.

Looking at the booking habits of some 14,000 households, the American Society of Travel Agents survey found that over the past 12 months, nearly one in four (22%) consumers polled said they used a travel agent to book a holiday, which was the highest share in the past three years.
For Millennials, that is, teenagers to those aged in their mid-thirties, the figure was even higher, spiking at 30% usage. Another 45% of Millennials (or Gen Y-ers) said they would recommend a travel agent to a friend or family member.
The report also revealed a high overall satisfaction rate with travel professionals, with around two-thirds of agent users saying travel agents improved their total travel experience, either by saving them money or helping them avoid mistakes.
“At this point, consumers have tried it all – they've booked online, they've gone direct, and they've used a travel agent,” ASTA president Zane Kerby said in a statement.
“This study dispels once and for all the myth that booking direct with suppliers or spending hours online yourself gets you a better deal or gives you a happier travel experience. In short, if you want a better travel experience, use an agent.”
