An Adelaide travel agent accused of cheating some 20 customers of around $100,000 has had charges against her dropped.
Prosecutors withdrew their case against Zeljka Loncar of Zym Travel after tendering no evidence in court, The Advertiser reported.
Excused from appearing in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court for charges of dishonest dealing with documents, Ms Loncar, 37, was also alleged to have swindled over $8,000 from a suburban CityForex foreign currency exchange outlet in July last year.
Former clients of Loncar had claimed her agency had taken their money but cancelled overseas bookings. Other travellers said they had been left stranded in Europe.
“They took us out from the plane and said these tickets are not valid. They said you two (her and her son) have to go but he (her partner) gets to stay,” Branka Duvnjak said after alleging she had become stranded in Bosnia and Herzegovina capital, Sarajevo.
Mrs Duvnjak also claimed she had to buy expensive business tickets to return to Adelaide.
