It’s National Agent Appreciation Day, says Trafalgar

Calls on the industry to make it an annual celebration

Trafalgar Australia managing director Matthew Cameron-Smith was in Santa Monica celebrating  the US National Agents Day, when it occurred to him that Australian agents were missing out.

“It astounded me as we always put agents first, so why do the North American agents get all the love?” Mr Cameron-Smith said.

“So today, we declare 23 May 2018 Australia’s first ever National Agents Day.

“From the Trafalgar Tribe and I, we thank you for your continued support.

“We will continue to always put you first - so today, we celebrate you and reward you with a slice of The Good Life.”

To help mark the agents that power the travel industry, the company has launched no less than four initiatives to ensure the trade have a great day, all on Trafalgar:

GET LUNCH ON THEM*

Agents who post an image, video or status (in 25 words or less) on the Trafalgar Tribe Facebook page on 23 May telling Trafalgar why they love being an agent, they will go into the running to be 1 of 20 winners to get a $100 UberEats gift voucher for your store. Don’t forget to include the Hashtag #AusAgentsDay in order to be in the running.

LET THEM INDULGE YOU*

Every agent who secures a new Trafalgar and CostSaver booking and depositson 23 May will win a French inspired prize.

If that's not enough, Trafalgar has the hit the streets to hand out I LOVE MY AGENTS cookies for sales calls received on the day, while internal agents have received a special morning desk drop. If you've scored one, Trafalgar have asked you to share a photo with #AusAgentsDay.

As part of Trafalgar’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, Global CEO Gavin Tollman will commission 100 trees to be planted to commemorate the occasion with sustainability partner One Tree Planted, to support reforestation in places like North America and Tanzania.

“It is not often that travel agents are celebrated and recognised and Trafalgar is once again leading the industry, by creating National Travel Agents Day in Australia," AFTA CEO Jayson Westbury said.

“I look forward to having AFTA more involved in this initiative along with our colleagues from the WTAAA around the world as Travel Agents Day comes to life in the years to come."

Cameron-Smith said he hoped and urged "the rest of the industry to follow, so we can make #AusAgentsDay an annual celebration on the second last Wednesday of each May”.
