Booking online can provide a lot of things, but experience and a big smile aren’t among them, so says NTIA finalist Bicton Travel’s Mike Drew. Find out why he thinks Taiwan rocks and what you should focus on when you travel.
WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR YOUR CLIENTS THAT THE INTERNET CAN’T?
I give my clients my own personal experience from holidays and educationals, plus a big welcoming smile.
WHERE’S THE NEXT ‘HOT’ DESTINATION?
Taiwan. Incredibly beautiful from bustling and mesmerising Taipei to stunning scenery, amazing culture, festivals, friendly people, easy to get to and no visas required.
WHAT’S YOUR BEST TRAVEL TIP?
Do not plan to visit so many destinations in a holiday, focus on the must see and do’s. You want to remember where you have visited.
WHAT ARE THE BEST AND WORST PARTS OF YOUR JOB?
The best parts are: every day is different, the pleasure of seeing clients excited about booking their holiday and calling you when home to tell you all about it, researching off the beaten track and undiscovered destinations.
The worst parts are; the long hours, missing some lunch breaks and booking a Bali holiday.
IF YOU WEREN’T A TRAVEL AGENT, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?
I would be a Zoologist, being around animals of all kinds is a big passion.
