There comes a point in every lockdown when you consider messing with sourdough starters or buying a bread maker from Kmart. But waiting for dough to double in size in the middle of winter can take the excitement out of baking your own bread.
Irish soda bread is bread sans yeast, using baking soda instead. Hearty and rustic, it’s great with soup or stews, or on its own with some fresh butter (Irish, of course).
