Who doesn’t look forward to a night out on the town? But a date night or night spent partying with friends is even more enjoyable when it’s at the right price, right?
In their latest study, the people at UBS have put together a list of the cheapest and most expensive major cities in the world to enjoy a Friday night date and party on a Saturday night.
The cost for the Friday night included dinner, drinks and a movie (all for two people), while Saturday night’s expenses comprised a taxi ride, nightclub entry, Big Mac and two long drinks (for one person).
In its study, UBS found Friday nights to be most expensive in Tokyo, New York and Stockholm, where the grand total of your night out comes to around US$200.
According to the study, the cheapest Friday night dates can be had in Prague, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro, where you can wine, dine and feast on a film for less than $100.
Based on the minimum UBS criteria, the most expensive Saturday nights are in Zurich, Stockholm and Miami, where an evening out can set you back around $90.
At the other end of the scale, the cheapest Saturday nights are in Mexico City, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro. In the first two of these megatropolises, your Saturday night adventures can come at prices of around $20 and $27 respectively.
For both nights, Sydney ranked in the middle of the lists. So Sydneysiders can look forward to nights out to forget about all the other astronomical costs of living down under…
Of course, the prices you ultimately pay depend on where you like to eat and what you like to do. So perhaps consider a lovely bowl of laksa over a five-course degustation meal the next time you head out.
