HOW DO YOU TRAVEL? Chris Le Roux, Evolution Travel Collective

If you ever hit the town with Chris, make sure he finds his own bed first afterwards...

Evolution Travel Collective's new BDM, Chris Le Roux

Chris Le Roux is adept at juggling multiple projects at once. As the new Business Development Manager at BDM-for-hire business, Evolution Travel Collective, there will be many plates spinning at any one time.

Chris' new role sees him return to the travel sector after a few years trying his hand at real estate. But prior to that, Le Roux's CV features a significant level of experience across the travel landscape, with Emirates, Globus, On The Go Tours and Bench Africa each enjoying his services for many years.

As Chris heads back on the road armed with info for travel advisors about his roster of clients, Traveltalk managed to catch up with him just as he was pulling out of the driveway to find out more about his own love of travel.

Do you pack light or take the whole wardrobe?

I pack light, I have a sincere dislike for heavy bags or worse travelling with someone who does.

Are you packed well in advance or a last-minute crammer?

I am definitely a last-minute crammer and usually forget something essential like underwear
or socks or my toiletry bag.

What keeps you entertained on a long-haul flight?

A good book, or a sleeping tablet

Besides your phone, what essential technology do you travel with?

Nothing. I prefer to be away from technology while travelling. Not even a camera.

Have you ever lost your bag while travelling? Did you see it again?

How lucky am I, it's actually never ever happened to me. (touch wood)

Chris is clearly a fan of wide open spaces for that perfect sunrise selfie.

What is your most hilarious or unbelievable travel story?

Big night out in Bangkok many years ago, I stayed in a budget hotel and the rooms had manual keys (remember those?). I ended up being woken by a stranger (not in a good way) at 1am that I am in their room and bed. It turned out that one key fit more than one room, just wrong floor.

And finally, what is the most amazing place you’ve been in the world?

Raiatea, French Polynesia. Absolutely beautiful place. I don't have an image, it was 20 years ago and unfortunately my camera got stolen not long after returning from the trip, which is probably why I don't take one now.
