Carnival Australia recently bolstered its local sales and marketing team, welcoming Kathryn Robertson as its new Chief Commercial Officer.
Robertson heads to sea with Carnival after three decades in aviation, moving from her most recent post as General Manager Sales at Air New Zealand.
Traveltalk caught up with Kathryn to find out more about her travelling days, where she regaled a real-life tale of an elephant walking into a bar. What did it order?
I would say efficiently! I love a good list so always try and pre-plan what I am likely to be doing and what the weather will be like so I can have the right things.
Definitely well in advance (back to my lists!) I hate doing things last minute and getting stressed.
If travelling alone, I love to catch up on TV box sets on the inflight entertainment that I never get round to watching at home. If I’m with my eight-year old twins, then I end up playing the two-play er games.
I always like having my ipad to either watch movies, listen to music or keep up to date on social channels.
Yes, when I worked in aviation, I used to travel standby on staff travel a lot. I travelled to Rio De Janerio and made it on the flight, but my bags didn’t! They did arrive three days later but going from a zero-degree UK winter to a 30-degree Brazilian summer meant an impromptu shopping trip!
A top tip a close friend was to always pack your swimwear in your hand luggage so you can always go to the beach/pool if your bag gets lost! I have done this ever since and it paid off in Brazil!
It would have to be when we were in Chang Mai for my brother-in-law’s wedding and an elephant walked right in to the bar we were having drinks in!
Would have to be Iguazu Falls in Argentina, but Oia in Santorini would be a close second!
