HOW DO YOU TRAVEL? Sophie Treasure, Virtuoso

I'll bet the airline that gave away Sophie's business class seat felt sheepish...or did they?

Virtuoso ANZ Account Director, Sophie Treasure.

Luxury travel advisor network Virtuoso recently expanded its Australian team further, welcoming Sophie Treasure onboard as its new Account Director for Australia and New Zealand.

Sophie brings many years experience to the luxury network, recently with Tourism Australia where she held a number of roles in Industry Relations over a five-year stint with the national tourism body.

Now settled in her new role, Traveltalk caught up with Sophie to find out more about her love for travel and favourite destinations around the world.

Do you pack light or take the whole wardrobe?

Light! The lighter the better

Are you packed well in advance or a last-minute crammer?

Last minute crammer – probably why I pack light.

What keeps you entertained on a long-haul flight?

Podcasts, movies, books, sudokus and tetris. I must have a USB charger on flights because I use up all my phone battery.

Besides your phone, what essential technology do you travel with?

My Garmin.

Have you ever lost your bag while travelling? Did you see it again?

Not yet. My family members have lost baggage but I have been blessed by the baggage Gods (touch wood).

Sophie is clearly set on staking out a good beach on her travels.

What is your most hilarious or unbelievable travel story?

Arriving late to CDG Airport, Paris and being told my business class seat had been given away, but
they could upgrade me to first class. Best trip ever!

And finally, what is the most amazing place you’ve been in the world?

In Australia – Esperance. Breathtakingly beautiful.

Internationally – Neuschwanstein in winter – spectacular.
