Are you traveling on a budget and really want to visit North America? If that is the case, then do not worry. Many people have managed to travel the world on a shoestring budget, and if you do it the right way, you might soon be able to join their ranks.

In this article, you will find a list of the four cheapest places in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Once you are done reading, you should have a general idea of what cities in North America you would like to visit. And if we don’t convince you, check out Tripplo UK to learn more about visiting the UK (and some other countries in Europe) on a budget.

Merida, Mexico

Merida is located in Yucatan Peninsula, and it is known for its unique cenotes and beautiful Mayan sites. When visiting Merida, the first thing that you should look at is the Castillo de Kukulkan, an ancient pyramid known as the “Temple of the Feathered Serpent.” This pyramid was built by the Mayans between 600 and 900 AD, and it is a great place to see some of their unique artwork.

In addition to this pyramid, there are several other remarkable sights in Merida. The main square features a giant fountain and many shops selling food and souvenirs. There are also countless restaurants around the main square that offer cheap meals on a daily basis. You can find just about any type of Mexican food here, so just pick whatever looks good.

Toronto, Canada

Next up on our list is another Canadian city: Toronto. This city is home to Canada’s largest Chinatown and Little Italy, which means that you will be able to get all kinds of delicious food for cheap.

The CN Tower is one of Toronto’s most famous landmarks and tourist attractions. It stands 553 meters above ground level, making it Canada’s tallest free-standing structure. The CN Tower has several observation decks that allow visitors to see all of the city from above, and it also includes several restaurants and shops. Tickets are fairly cheap, but you will have to pay extra if you want to go all the way up to the top.

If you want something more active than just sightseeing, we suggest checking out Ripley’s Aquarium. Located on Toronto Islands, this aquarium contains over 10 000 aquatic animals and covers an area of 16 000 square meters. Tickets are not too expensive either, so this place is excellent for anyone looking for something different and fun.

Denver, Colorado

Denver is located in Colorado, and it is known for its incredible views. At an elevation of 5,280 feet (1,600 meters) above sea level, Denver is one of the highest locates cities in North America. As a result, it has a very dry climate with many sunny days throughout the year.

Just like any other major city in North America, Denver has plenty of things to see and do. If you’re a fan of sports, you should visit the iconic Mile High Stadium, which has been home to several teams over the years. Today, this famous stadium primarily serves as a venue for concerts and other events.

The best way to explore downtown Denver is via walking or biking. There are plenty of bike paths located through downtown Denver, so if you are looking for a more alternative mode of transportation than cars or public buses, then biking should be your go-to option.

El Paso, Texas

El Paso is another city in Texas, but it can be considered somewhat of a border town. It is famous for its proximity to Mexico, and it actually houses several bridges that connect the United States with Mexico. It's not unusual for visitors to decide to stay forever, as land in Texas is relatively inexpensive compared to other parts of the USA.

You should definitely visit the El Paso Border Patrol Museum if you come here. In total, there are 12 different exhibits here that cover everything from the history of border patrol to the weapons and equipment that they use today. There are plenty of original artifacts on display, so this museum offers an incredible insight into one of the most important government agencies in the United States.

Another great attraction in El Paso is Fort Bliss, built between 1849 and 1853. This military base was used during both World War I and World War II, and it is home to several museums today. Fort Bliss and its museum are very popular among people who are interested in military history, so if you are too, then you should definitely check it out.

Traveling is an excellent way to have fun and learn something new, but it can also be quite costly. If you’re looking for something that suits your budget, consider choosing a destination not far from home.

Denver won’t be an obvious choice, but it is still an exciting place for you to see your country from a new perspective. El Paso will give you an insight into life on the US border. And, if you want to visit another country, consider Toronto in Canada or Merida in Mexico.

Whichever you chose, we promise: you won't get disappointed. So start packing your bag and have fun.
