Viking has announced the appointment of a new Commercial Manager for trade and a new Trade Marketing Manager, a range of new online portal features and a redesign of its weekly agent email. Free, Australia-wide information sessions have also been scheduled, in addition to special ‘Vör Nights,’ where agents can meet the team and learn more about Viking in an intimate setting over a two-course meal and drinks.
“We’re dedicating a significant portion of resources to trade in 2018, in the areas of management, knowledge development, online resources and events,” said Michelle Black, Managing Director Viking Australia and New Zealand. “It’s important to us that we reaffirm our commitment to trade as we expand our ocean fleet and portfolio, and build strong, direct relationships with our valued travel agent partners.”
The recently appointed Trade Marketing Manager - Erin Kramer - will be continuously adapting trade content and tools based on agent feedback, while the new Commercial Manager for trade – Alister Burn, will be responsible for driving further engagement - utilising technology, social media and personalised communication to foster relationships with agents.
The weekly EDMs have been reformatted in response to agent feedback, and now feature latest news, current availability, scheduled press ads (so they can anticipate customer enquiries), current offers, a ‘Meet the Team’ section and ‘Did You Know’ section – containing unique and interesting facts about Viking they can share with their clients.
The online portal is now more intuitive and features Viking fact sheets and forms (including air booking forms), providing self-service tools in real time. It also features agent FAQs, current promotions, an image library and downloadable marketing materials including customisable flyers, web banners and Facebook tiles. At the ‘Vör Nights,’ agents will meet the Viking team, receive face-to-face product training and hear the latest news over drinks and dinner, while at the info sessions, agents can attend alone or with their clients, reserve seats with agency signage, hear from Viking experts and receive exclusive offers on the day.
