From tomorrow (7 September 2021), Canada will be open to fully vaccinated travellers who meet entry requirements.
Meanwhile, local travel agents are already being inundated with enquiries from excited Aussies, eager to plan their ski holidays, visit family and friends, and use travel credits pending since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to Qantas’ commitment to offer flights from Sydney to Vancouver three times per week from 20 December 2021, Air Canada has announced it will begin flying four times per week between Sydney and Vancouver from 15 December onwards.
While travel will look a little different, and additional pre-travel planning is needed, this is a significant milestone for the Canadian tourism sector. With Australia on track to reach an 80 percent vaccination rate for those aged 16 and over around 23 November 2021 and 90 percent around 12 December 2021, Australian travellers can stop dreaming and start planning their next Canadian adventure.
Travellers to Canada are encouraged to be fully informed of the pre-entry and on-arrival public health and testing requirements both federally and provincially. This includes the mandatory use of the ArriveCAN app. Travellers should plan for extra time in the lead up, and upon the arrival of their trip.
