Booking site Smart Lemur has ranked 13 places in Bali that should be on the must-visit list of every tourist.
The list includes a variety of places offering nature, nightlife, yoga, beach bars, temples, surfing and diving.
According to the website, the first five top destinations in Bali are Ubud, Seminyak, Kuta beaches, Bukit peninsula beaches and Uluwatu.
Top of the list is Ubud, Bali’s cultural and spiritual centre, where health food restaurants, galleries and boutiques attract authentic experience seekers. It is a destination where tourists go for sightseeing but mainly to recharge, take a yoga or meditation class, have a massage or indulge in a good meal.
Seminyak can be called the island’s fashion capital with streets lined with designer boutiques and lifestyle outlets. Both loud bars and tranquility – perfect for watching sunsets – can be found on the beach.
In third spot are the Kuta beaches – Kerobokan, Canggu and Echo Beach – which are 12 kilometres long in total and are very popular among surfers and food lovers. Canggu offers health food restaurants and waterfront bar/restaurants, Kerobokan has some of the best beach restaurants in Bali, while Echo Beach offers great surfing, sunsets and cafes.
White sand, bars and a great selection of ocean-front hotels are the main attraction at the Bukit peninsula beaches of Padang Padang, Bingin and Balangan. Uluwatu Beach, which is also situated on the Bukit Peninsula and is one of the most famous beaches in Bali, is a place of extreme surfing and scenic views.
The remaining destinations on the list range from the best nightlife spots, such as Kuta city, to historic places like Pemuteran Bay or Pura Luhur Batukau. Included at number seven are the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
