It's bad enough the only physical contact you'll get is accidentally falling asleep on a stranger's shoulder in a packed plane, but do you have to look so bloody lonely on social media when travelling solo?
Japan says no.
A Japanese company called Family Romance has the solution for lonely travellers longing to (at least) look like they have the entourage of even a male Kardashian.
The service allows you to hire fake friends from a catalogue based on things like gender, age and even their style.
You'll have to book them for a minimum of two hours and fork out for any travel or food and beverage expenses, as well as pay upwards of 2,000 yen.
Who says money can't be friendship?
