Travel Directors unveils new North Korean tour

Tour runs from 19 September to 2 October 2018

Travel Directors has introduced a new tour to North Korea, NORTH KOREA: A HIDDEN WORLD.

Fourteen days discovering a fascinating region unscathed by mass tourism is what Travel Directors offers in this brand-new itinerary exploring north-eastern China and, primarily, North Korea.

In keeping with Travel Directors undertaking to deliver adventures of a lifetime, this exciting tour is no different. North Korea abounds with experiences to capture travellers’ imaginations from historically-significant sites and monuments to natural wonderlands.

The tour kicks off in Harbin, China travelling by train across the border at Sinuiju and onwards to its North Korean destinations. Chinese highlights include visits to the Siberian Tiger Park, the Great Wall of China, Sun Island, the UNESCO World Heritage listed Shenyang Imperial Palace, Shenyang West Lake, and some of the bridges that span the Yalu River at Dandong, the gateway to North Korea.

After crossing into the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the K27 Express train, picturesque mountainous countryside is traversed to arrive in the country’s capital, Pyongyang; a surprisingly beautiful city with a population of over three million and a rich history reaching back 5,000 years. The city boasts numerous traffic-free boulevards and avenues surrounded by parks and gardens. Sights include the Arch of Triumph, Juche Tower, Moran Hill and the birthplace of Kim Il Sung.

A road trip to Myohyang in the mountains of north-western DPRK reveals a beautiful and pristine environment that features over 2,500 species of plants, animals, birds and fish. Added to this are temples and reminders of the 1950-1953 Korean War whether it be museums or solemn sites where evidence of the devastating war can still be seen.

Korean Demilitarized Zone

A special highlight is the visit to the 38th Parallel, the most heavily militarised border in the world where it is possible to walk around the conference table into South Korea.

North Korea: A Hidden World is a truly unique journey for those with a finely-tuned spirit of adventure and curious minds.

Prices for this 14-day tour start from $9,950 with numbers strictly limited to 24. The fully-inclusive price covers departures from any Australian capital city and includes all meals, accommodation, transport and attractions' entry. Full details at traveldirectors.com.au or call 1300 856 661.
