4 autumn Sydney events you won’t want to miss

There are many attractions that bring visitors from all corners of the world to Sydney, Australia, each and every year. Architectural masterpieces, including the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, have become famous landmarks that serve as top tourist attractions, while the culture and friendliness of the locals is one of the reasons why visitors wish they could stay longer.



In such a vibrant city that is full of life, it is no surprise that there are a number of events year-round that are held in Sydney. If you are planning a visit to Sydney this autumn, here are four such events that you won’t want to miss.



Whether you are a horse-racing enthusiast or if you are just looking for a great outdoor sporting event in Sydney, the Racing Carnival will not disappoint. The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival is comprised of six weeks of some of the best horse racing in Australia, and draws in droves of spectators to watch some of the top horses and jockeys in the world compete. 


Full of excitement and action, there are a few races throughout the series that you can choose from. While many especially look forward to the Golden Slipper at Rosehill, the Championships at Randwick are also incredibly popular with fans of the sport. Just be sure to get your tickets early so that you don’t miss out on any of the action.



An event that will be fun for the whole family is definitely the Sydney Royal Easter Show. The best of Australian agriculture is on display during this festival, which also offers great food and fun activities that everyone will enjoy. 


Held for just over a week and running from the end of March until the beginning of April, this event should definitely make its way onto your to-do list if you want a great way to spend the day outdoors surrounded by good food, great people and live entertainment. 



One of the most dazzling and captivating events that is held in autumn in Sydney is Vivid Sydney. This event sees the transformation of this already vibrant city into an artistic display of colour and lights. Artists from around the world come together to create this spectacle of music, lights and colours.




Another sporting event that brings in scores of spectators from around the globe is the annual Sydney Harbour Regatta. This upscale event is hosted by the Middle Harbour Yacht Club and is held during the month of March. It features over 200 yachts that race through Sydney Harbour and offshore as they compete for the top prizes. 


Those who come to watch the races will be treated to a major party on the shore. A beach barbeque, live entertainment and parties that last into the night are all a part of this fantastic event.
