An absolute GEM: Ametis Villa Bali reviewed

The Ametis Villa Bali is such a stylish, stunning, surfy, sophisticated and sexy place to stay.

Named after the amethyst stone, Ametis Villa Bali is a collection of 14 private villas that are all named after gemstones. And boy do they shine.

With the rolling surf of Batu Balong right outside our door, amidst the trendy beach clubs, shops, bars and restaurants of Canggu, is Ametis Villa Bali, a serene and green sanctuary slap bang in the middle of everything.

The first thing we notice here are the immaculately tended tropical gardens. And each villa itself is a fusion of indoor and outdoor living.

We are in the Opal, a 350 square meter premier pool villa, opposite the award-winning Ruby Spa. The villa is a lush green private haven with a lap pool and a fully equipped open plan gourmet kitchen which sits beneath a massive pitched timber canopy reminiscent of old style traditional Balinese design. From the moment we arrive we are intoxicated by the serenity (as well as the very generous welcome cocktail)!

The spacious bedroom area has a freestanding oval bath tub big enough for two (take note honeymooners, passionomas and water savers!) a massive rain shower and a very interesting transparent toilet (take note new couples on holiday together)!

Ametis is adults only - though whilst no children are allowed here I’m tipping there are plenty made here as it’s the ultimate romantic escape.

The king-size canopied platform bed is super comfy with feather pillows and very high quality linen. There’s a flat screen TV in the bedroom and a Bluetooth music speaker to which you can pair all your favourite music whilst doing your laps as you fall out of bed and straight into your pool.

Included in our stay is a 30 minute massage in the Ruby Spa. Ruby’s provides customised programmes of zen healing and wellness practices and is a blissful Bali experience - you will definitely want more than half an hour here! I can understand why Ruby’s has been a finalist many times in the world luxury spa awards.

Also included is a daily fruit platter, afternoon tea (the banana cheesecake is to die for), evening cocktails with canapés, soft drinks, beer, tea and coffee. Breakfast is included and you can have it delivered to your villa.

The food is prepared by the much loved Billy Ho restaurant next door and then hand delivered by our even more loved butler “Gede” with his trademark grin.

If you’re partial to smashed avocado and poached eggs (and what Australian isn’t) you will be in brekkie heaven.

There’s a hive of Canggu activity outside our door but this villa is such haven of comfort and style it’s hard to leave.

With a driver at your beck and call you might be tempted to go to nearby Seminyak but Canggu is fast becoming as cool as it’s trendy neighbour with plenty of great restaurants and bars and the massive Batu Balong surf beach 200 metres away. It’s relaxed surfy vibe is a winner and it’s full of gym/yoga toned bodies probably making their way to one of the many vegan cafes/yoga studios Canggu is becoming famous for. It’s where many expats choose to settle down so it doesn’t yet feel overly touristy and has a homely laid back energy.

The surf and the sunsets are epic and well worth leaving your Ametis haven for. There are plenty of beach bars to view the sunset from and wind down from a day of perfect relaxation. You can enjoy your evening cocktail and canapes in your villa and then make your way down to the beach for the nightly spectacular Bali sunset show.

If you have a special anniversary/occasion coming up treat yourself to a stay at this outstanding property and enjoy every precious moment of the Ametis VIP treatment.
