First Microtel in the region to open in Wellington

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio in Australasia, announcing the region's first Microtel by Wyndham hotel to be opened in Wellington, New Zealand during the second quarter of the year.

Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central will be situated on Vivian Street, within walking distance to the city's key attractions. The hotel's location is perfect for business travellers who can expect the easy convenience of being set in the heart of the city's central business district. With every detail considered at every touchpoint, the hotel will ensure an efficient and productive stay.

Microtel Wellington will leverage Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' global partnership with Oracle Hospitality, through the installation and use of Opera Cloud as its Property Management System. Opera Cloud affords a direct two-way interface with Wyndham's Central Reservation System. Through this, the hotel plans to enable key technology enhancements including the use of an interactive lobby and the ability to offer contactless arrival experiences through mobile check-in and keyless entry. For casual breakfast, lunch, or a drink, the hotel's café, and bar will provide a funky backdrop while guests enjoy their morning coffee and pastry, lunchtime snack, or cocktail, with a video wall to keep guests entertained.

Guests who are visiting for leisure are just a stone's throw away from a plethora of casual and fine-dining restaurants, showcasing local produce in the city's renowned cultural centre - Cuba Street. Afterwards, one can explore the iconic street's contemporary and street art galleries, vintage stores, and the famous Bucket Fountain in the warmer months. Travellers can also discover the foreshore area of Lambton Quay, where visitors can spoil themselves with high street shopping and an array of dining options. From here, one can visit the nearby Wellington Museum for a taste of local culture and history or watch a live sporting match at the Wellington Sports Stadium.

As a cultural tribute to Wellington, the 81 stylishly appointed, modern rooms will feature dark, neutral tones complete with statement pieces such as unique Banksy art prints and bold colours throughout to create a vibrant street art influence in each room.
