Its worth is equal to 130 laksas, 115 burritos, 455 sushi rolls or 1,000 bagels from my local bakery. So clearly this is one extravagant bagel.
In 2007, The Westin New York in Times Square began selling these over the top bagels and every year since, the hotel has received calls to bring it back. This year, the hotel gave in to demand and the four figure bagel has been returned to its breakfast menu, CNT reported.
So what exactly does US$1,000 (AU$1,274) get you?
The bagel is bought from a local bakery, smeared with Alba white truffle cream cheese, topped with goji berry-infused Riesling jam and then coated with a sprinkling of gold leaves.
"Serious thought was put into the creation of the city’s first outrageous bagel to ensure the hefty price tag doesn’t just get patrons an overpriced piece of bread,” a statement from The Westin read.
The bagel will be available from 1 November to 15 December only and will be available via room service and during breakfast at the hotel’s Foundry Kitchen.
All proceeds go to the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen and luckily tax and tip is included in the price.
