Sydney to welcome its second Moxy hotel in the city centre

Only four months after opening Australia’s first Moxy at Sydney Airport, the brand has confirmed a second location right in the CBD.

Moxy Sydney will feature 314 rooms in a new tower set back from the street.

Marriott International will redevelop part of the Sydney CBD to introduce its second Moxy hotel to the city, with the new property slated to open in August 2025.

Moxy Sydney Pitt Street will feature approximately 314 rooms, a restaurant and bar including a grab-and-go self-service facility, meeting rooms and a signature rooftop bar expected to become the highest in the city on Level 34.

Developed in conjunction with Rebel Property Group, the new hotel will occupy a new tower built behind a street-front high-street retail and office complex. Guests will find themselves close to major retail including Town Hall, Martin Place and World Square along with being a short walk to Darling Harbour.

Once open, it will be the 140th Moxy hotel worldwide and Marriott’s eighth property in Greater Sydney, part of a collection that also includes Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park and the brand new W Sydney.

Marriott International Vice President of Hotel Development for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Richard Crawford, said Moxy is renowned around the world over as a high-energy hotel experience that breaks the rules and makes travel fun.

“It’s a brand that absolutely belongs in the heart of Sydney, where the city’s iconic attractions and urban excitement make for a perfect base for our fun-hunters,” Crawford said.

Moxy’s second property in Sydney follows the opening of Moxy Sydney Airport, which welcomed its first guests in August 2023.
