While the most affordable places for luxury hotel stays may not come as a surprise, with the cities of Warsaw (Poland), Mumbai (India), Bangkok (Thailand) and Delhi (India) all offering five-star accommodation for less than AU$200, Central and Western European cities like Berlin (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Brussels (Belgium) and Lisbon (Portugal) boast exceptional value for Aussie travellers as well.

Revealed: the ten cheapest cities in the world for hotel stays

Despite the low Australian dollar, you can also get affordable luxury hotel stays in Budapest (Hungary) and Istanbul (Turkey) in Europe, and Guangzhou (China) and Jakarta (Indonesia) in Asia.

“Asian destinations continue to go head-to-head to offer the best-value luxury hotel deals for Aussie travellers, while a depreciating Euro is also making Europe an even more attractive long-haul destination than ever before,” said Katherine Cole, Hotels.com regional director, Australia, New Zealand & Singapore.

“This year we really are spoilt for choice in culturally rich destinations offering luxury for less.”
