Where are Australia’s best hotels?

When Queensland famously said it was beautiful one day and perfect the next, it wasn’t talking about its accommodation. But it could well have been because the sunshine state has just been given marks as close to perfection as it could get in a prominent hotel awards event.

In the Loved by Guests Awards 2018, Queensland took out no less than 20 of the top 51 best places to stay in Australia. Averaging 9.4 or higher for guest reviews. Queensland accounted for a whopping eight ‘best for’ category winners out of a possible 16, taking out gongs for luxury, business, new and spa hotels.

“The Loved by Guests awards are all about guest reviews, the good the great and the awesome. We know that people value fellow guest opinions even more than star ratings these days, so we we’re giving everyone super clear access to just that and highlighting the hotels that truly stand out,” said Johan Svanstrom, President of the Brand.

But these awards show it isn’t just the Queensland accommodation sector that’s in great shape.

“The Australian accommodation industry is truly making its mark on the world with this impressive number of guest ratings and awards. With our beautiful scenery, amazing attractions and friendly locals, Australia is a travel favourite, and it’s great to see our hotel industry recognised at the same level,” marketing manager for Australia and New Zealand, David Spasovic said.

Following Queensland on the list was NSW, which picked up 14 Most Wanted gongs and four Top awards.

But it seems like Queensland is indeed the smart state, at least as far as hotels go.

Internationally, travellers will find the Most Wanted award-winning hotels in Rome (39), Florence (38), London (36), Hanoi (36) and Venice (32).
