And now the world’s safest destination is...

Finland has stolen a march on the world’s best known tourist spots by being declared the world’s safest and most secure travel destination.

That’s the conclusion of a report received by wholesaler Beyond Travel from the World Economic Forum (WEF). The WEF spent 11 years analysing the travel and tourism competitiveness of 136 economies across the world.

The survey named Finland at the top of a list of 10 destinations in order of their sustainable and inclusive future for tourism in an uncertain security environment while preserving the natural environment and local communities on which it so richly depends.

Scandinavia specialist Beyond Travel offers a full range of services in Finland such as Helsinki hotels and sightseeing, tailor-made rail tours, escorted touring, self-drive and Northern Lights packages.

Private tailor-made itineraries are a great add-on for those travelling in Russia with tours available to Helsinki from St Petersburg and Moscow.

A new tailor-made example introduced this year is the six-day ‘Charming Finland’ package. Guests will visit the modern harbour capital of Helsinki with its renowned design district. The tour then travels to the heart of Finland-Kemi to experience the famous Sampo Artic Icebreaker cruise before ending in Rovaniemi, also known as the home of Santa Claus.

The tour is priced from $1,935 per person twin share and includes four nights in four-star accommodation with daily breakfast, one night aboard a first class overnight sleeper train, sightseeing and services of a local representative.
