The arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (aka Harry and Meghan) down under may shine the spotlight onto Australia, but we hardly need help selling our beautiful shores to Britain.
A recent study by UK tour operator On The Go Tours has revealed Britons’ dream destinations for 2019 and in just about every region of GB, Australia and New Zealand were revealed to be the most sought after holiday spots.
Polling 2,000 people across the UK, the survey found NZ to be the top dream destination, with more than one in four (27%) respondents choosing it as their ideal holiday location. Australia finished close behind.
With the exception of London and the West Midlands, which both chose USA as their dream destinations, all of the 12 regions surveyed chose either Australia or NZ as their ideal getaway.
Australia proved most popular in the South East (Brighton, Canterbury, Dover) and Northern Ireland, with three in ten (30%) respondents in both regions dreaming of Australia in 2019.
Meanwhile, London was deemed the most adventurous city in the UK, with one in 20 Londoners admitting to having an “extremely adventurous” personality and half (49%) saying they were “somewhat adventurous”.
