Hurtigruten is getting into the Christmas spirit, offering a two for the price of one special on selected voyages over the festive period, meaning a Christmas break could cost as little as £49 (or about AU$84) per person per night on full-board basis.
The 12-day Classic Round Voyage, departing on 19 December, costs from £1,303 for two passengers (based on twin share, full board basis) and will see the MS Polarlys arrive into Kjøllefjord on Christmas Eve, where it will stay until Christmas evening.
But don’t worry about missing out on Christmas while away. The Norwegians do Christmas hard and it’s no different travelling with Hurtigruten, the crew and guests decorating the vessels and the Christmas tree together (Christmas decorations are made onboard), and guests even learning Norwegian Christmas songs.
For those wanting to get a taste of Norway New Year style, the 7-Day Voyage north on board the MS Midnatsol, departing from Bergen on 27 December, costs from £1,046 per person (based on twin share, full board basis).
Guests on the MS Midnatsol will be able to welcome the New Year in a very special place: after a festive New Year's Eve on board in the port of Tromsø, they can enjoy a New Year’s Day excursion to the North Cape, mainland Europe’s northernmost point. There, guests are greeted by an exclusive New Year’s concert in the North Cape Hall.
After all, who needs Christmas lights or fireworks when you’ve got the Aurora Borealis?
