In a promotion it would rather forget, Flight Centre Canada mistakenly marketed – for 24 hours – South Africa’s Hout Bay for Hawaii.
Appearing online, and in Canadian FC store windows and newspapers, the ad showed a photograph of a woman standing on a low rock overlooking beautiful Hout Bay in Cape Town.
According to Times Media Group, Flight Centre Canada's retail marketing leader, Aaron Stubbings called the error an "honest mistake".
“As soon as it was noticed by someone who recognised it was an error, we corrected it everywhere possible and all new advertisements coming out to promote this Hawaii promotion will have the correct Hawaii image,” he said.
“It was purely a human mistake that wasn't caught prior to approval. The image was incorrectly filed.”
