Whether you’re green, teal, red or blue, Australia has a new PM and will soon get a new Tourism Minister. But is it good news for the travel industry?
The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) met with likely incoming Tourism Minister Don Farrell just before the election and highlighted his own focus on listening to the industry to get a sense of what will really help in the recovery and to continue to work with us as we recover.
“Senator Farrell has been a long standing champion of Australia’s Travel Agents and has worked both behind the scenes as well as on the floor of Parliament to push the need for ongoing support and refine the delivery mechanisms,” AFTA chief executive Dean Long said.
“Labor and Senator Farrell have been very active in pushing for the support Australia’s Travel and Tourism Sector needs including now as the long and slow road to recovery is underway.”
In April, Farrell told AFTA members he will “will continue talking to you”.
“We know what the issues are and we intend to bring forward policies to deal with that as we recover.”
