But if you are planning a trip to its capital Astana, you may need to rejig your itinerary as, on Saturday, the country renamed its capital in honour of its leader Nursultan Nazarbayev, who unexpectedly resigned this week after almost 30 years in power.
Aside from Astana, Nursultan was previously called Akmolinsk, Tselinograd and Akmola.
Public buildings, events and companies (think Air Astana) with Astana in their titles will stay as they are, authorities have said, Reuters reported.
