The new selfie taking over travellers

Is the selfie stick dead?

Move over selfie stick, there’s a new trend doing the rounds and it’s taking over the Instagram accounts of many a traveller.

Called the #bathroomselfie, the trend is simply about taking photos of gorgeous bathrooms in hotels around the world - and is particularly popular with millennials.

According to travel site hotels.com the new selfie has skyrocketed in recent times, with #bathroomselfie tagged more than 1.5 million times on Instagram, “which is 32 times more than #BedroomSelfie and 13 times more than #LiftSelfie”.

The trend comes as hotels.com reports a sharp increase of 44% (from January 2017 to April 2018) in the number of reviews about bathrooms.

“We know that jaw-dropping bathrooms and #BathroomSelfies are becoming a must-have for hotel guests, and hotels are seriously upping their game when it comes to amazing bathroom design,” hotels.com brand Asia Pacific spokesperson Zoe Chan said.

“There’s no time like the present to make the most of your selfie game and stock up on #BathroomSelfies, at some of the best locations around the world, with Hotels.com.”

Have you ever taken a bathroom selfie?
