Only a lucky few make it through the entire travel experience abroad - from initial planning to arriving home - without raising a bead of sweat about something.
But if the results of a new survey are anything to go by, travel agents might just be the answer to alleviating a good deal of that stress.
Conducted by travel site KAYAK.com.au, the Travel Survey asked Aussie holidaymakers what the most irksome parts of the overseas travel experience are, and one in three (33%) respondents flagged holiday planning as the most stressful period. Enter travel agents.
The next most stressful part of the process is travelling to the destination (27%) and returning from the trip. (26%).
When planning a holiday, more than half (51%) said finding accommodation that pleased everyone is the most stressful aspect, followed closely by finding flight tickets at reasonable prices (48%). Enter travel agents again. Packing for a holiday (44%) is also considered a trying part of the process.
Among those who said travelling itself was the number one cause of stress, nearly half (48%) flagged getting to the airport on time as the most taxing element, followed by the packing of passports, clothing and medication (45%) and organising airport transfers (41%).
For those who stress on holiday, almost half (48%) worry about sticking to a budget, two in five (40%) travelling on local public transport, and nearly the same (39%) keeping everyone happy and entertained whilst away (39%).
