Alpha Travel Insurance has analyzed the hashtags of ski locales from around the world to find out which destinations are the most popular on Instagram.
It discovered that when it comes to popularity, Canada rules, with Banff and Whistler the most Instagrammed ski destinations in the world.
With six of the top ten resort towns located in North America, Aspen came in third place, with Veil (5th), Bend (6th) and Telluride (8th) all rating highly.
Elsewhere, Chamonix (France, 4th) and Zermatt (Switzerland, 7th) topped Europe’s premier ski spots, while Japan’s Niseko (9th) finished as the top destination outside of North America and Europe.
The only Southern Hemisphere destination to make the top 25, New Zealand’s Wanaka finished in tenth position.
According to Alpha, there are on average over 7 million posts a day on Instagram that have the hashtag #skiing.
