A horror bus crash in West Java, Indonesia has claimed at least 27 lives and injured several others.
According to Indonesia’s Antara news agency, the bus was carrying female tourists who were returning from a holiday on the popular Mount Tangkuban Perahu.
“The number of fatalities is 27, and all of them are women,” Subang Regional Public Hospital spokesman Mamat Budirakhmat said.
SRPH is treating 18 passengers for injuries, including at least two women who are in a critical condition.
Initial investigations had revealed that the bus’s brakes had failed, and that the vehicle had hit a motorcycle before rolling down a ramp road and landing on a grass field, Associated Press reported.
Local police chief Muhammad Joni said most of the victims had died on impact, and authorities were questioning the driver, who was only slightly injured.
Meanwhile, at least 19 people have been killed and more than 60 passengers injured in a bus accident in Hong Kong.
Several witnesses say the double-decker bus was going too fast when it crashed on Tai Po Road on Saturday night, HK’s South China Morning Post reported.
According to SCMP, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle as he was pulling into a turn, causing the bus to flip onto its side.
