Travel Oscars name Australasia’s best airline, hotels

And it’s good news for Sydney

Australasia’s leading airline, accommodation brands and destination have been unveiled at the 2018 World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony in Hong Kong.

For the second time, in a category in only its second year, Air New Zealand was named Australasia’s Leading Airline at the awards, which are voted for by travel and tourism professionals as well as global business and leisure travellers.

Air New Zealand Chief Marketing and Customer Officer Mike Tod said it was fantastic to have been recognised by both customers and the travel industry.

“This award is a reflection of the commitment our 12,000 staff around the world put into ensuring we deliver products and services that our nation can be proud of," Mr Tod remarked.

But the big winner in the region was Sydney, which won “Australasia’s Leading Destination” and whose airport was named “Australasia’s Leading Airport”.
