Iconic luxury European railway journey, Venice-Simplon Orient Express by Belmond, will venture into the French Alps for the first time in the 2023/24 winter season with four new journeys scheduled.

Beginning in December 2023, the famed blue and gold carriages will take rail enthusiasts from Paris’ Gare De Lyon station, through the French countryside and up to stations in Albertville, Moutiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

From there, winter holidaymakers can easily access some of Europe’s finest ski resorts including Megeve, Mont Blanc, Courcheval, Three Valleys and Tignes-Val d’lsere, along with a variety of Michelin-starred restaurants and many cosy and quaint bars.

Departing in the evenings, after boarding guests can mingle in the ‘Bar Car 3674’ before joining one of the three dining cars for a menu of seasonal dishes designed by French chef Jean Imbert.

The Venice-Simplon Orient Express will be expanding for the 2023 season, with eight new suites joining the restored 1920s train and taking the offering up to three categories.

Begin or end your evening at the stylish Bar Car.

Historic Cabins are the heart of the Orient Express experience and feature a sofa which converts into a lower berth, with an upper bunk retracting from the wall.

Alternatively, the fully restored Art Deco suites envelope guests in polished mahogany wood panelling, plush fabrics and furnishings, with a large sitting area converting to a bedroom with either a double or twin beds alongside a private marble ensuite.

The highest category is the Grand Suites, which feature a private dining setting, marble bathrooms and a separate sitting area adjacent to a large bedroom with double or twin beds. Guests in Grand Suites also enjoy 24-hour butler service, bottomless champagne and the opportunity to dine within their private cabin.

The Venice-Simplon Orient Express will depart Paris for the French Alps on 15 and 21 December, returning to the French capital on 16 and 22 December.
