World’s best carriers (and crew) revealed at airline Oscars

Qantas voted among top ten airlines in world

The winners at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards have been revealed, with Qatar Airways named best carrier of 2015. Singapore Airlines, who had finished third for the past three years, was declared runner-up, while 2014 winner Cathay Pacific finished in third place.

Qantas improved on its 11th place finish in 2014, by just breaking into the top ten in tenth position, while Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand ranked 16th and 17th respectively. Jetstar placed 41st.

One of the most coveted prizes at the awards ceremony, held at this week’s Paris Airshow, is the gong for Best Airline Cabin Staff, which was won for the second time in a row by Garuda Indonesia. The cabin crew award covers ‘hard’ service such as techniques, efficiency and attention as well as 'soft' service features such as staff enthusiasm, attitude and friendliness.


The World Airline Awards takes into account the opinions of travellers from across the globe and is the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey.
