Gladys Blackburn would visit airports to watch the planes take off and land, but in all her 95 years, she’d never had the chance of boarding a plane herself.
The staff at Milton Court Care Home found out about Blackburn’s wish after having set up a wishing tree for residents, Ladbible reported.
They got in touch with London Luton Airport and easyJet and the parties conspired to grant Blackburn’s wish.
The day started with a glass of champagne upon arrival at the airport and then Blackburn and her carers boarded a plane bound for Lake Geneva.
"Being up in the clouds with a glass of champagne and a view of everything below - it was wonderful better than I had imagined,” Blackburn said.
“I was nervous at first, but I want to do it again now!"
"Gladys has only ever travelled abroad by coach in her life,” Gemma Brooks, who works at Milton Court Care Home, said.
“It's always been a dream of hers to fly and why should dreams have to change just because of your age?”
"We're so grateful to London Luton Airport and easyJet for making her wish come true. They have made a 95-year old woman very, very happy."
