‘DNA’ discount fares for Americans with Mexican blood

New ad trolls anti-Mexican sentiment among US citizens

AeroMexico has launched a new campaign aimed at encouraging more Americans to discover Mexico by offering them discounts ... with a difference.

At the centre of the initiative is a video titled “There are no borders within us”, which details the carrier’s offer of “DNA discounts” to US citizens with Mexican heritage.

Apparently, more Americans have Mexican blood than they think. And if they do, they’ll be awarded discounts equal to the percentage of their Mexican ancestry, the Huffington Post reported.

A likely jab at US President Donald Trump’s moves to build a wall between the US and Mexico, the ad shows a group of Texans from a town 300 miles north of the border, who don’t want to travel to Mexico, being told that they have Mexican blood and are so entitled to a discount.

“Oh, wow,” says one young man who is told he’s 18% Mexican.

However, not everyone was happy about the news of their ancestry, with one clearly annoyed elderly man calling the claim that he is 22% Mexican “bullshit”.

What do you think of this campaign?
