Qantas, Bangkok Airways sign codeshare deal

Pact ‘significantly improves’ connections within Asia for QF fliers

In a move the airline says will significantly improve travel options for customers travelling in South East Asia, Qantas has announced a new codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways.

Subject to regulatory approval, Qantas customers will be able to book Bangkok services from Bangkok and Singapore to six new destinations in Thailand, including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Phuket from 30 March 2014.

Qantas International chief executive Simon Hickey said the deal was another step forward in the airline’s offering for customers travelling between Australia and Asia.

“This partnership is great news for our customers travelling to resort destinations in Thailand,” he said.

“The new codeshare services will allow customers to connect to their holiday destination via Bangkok or Singapore, with more opportunities to earn frequent flyer points and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination.”

The two carriers are looking to establish a reciprocal agreement that will allow Bangkok Airways passengers to book on Qantas services, both to Australia and domestically.

The Bangkok Airways codeshare services that will be available to Qantas customers are:

Singapore – Ko Samui

Bangkok – Ko Samui

Bangkok – Phuket

Bangkok – Chiang Mai

Bangkok – Krabi

Bangkok – Chiang Rai
