If you’re looking to jet off this Christmas, there’s no better time to book flights than right now.
According to new data released by Skyscanner, international flights booked in August for the Christmas period are on average 10% cheaper than those booked in November, when huge demand sends festive season prices to their highest point of the year.
Sydney-based travellers in particular stand to save a lot, with savings of over 20% possible when booking Christmas flights now (compared to December).
Flights booked in August to holiday hotspots like New York and Paris can even save Sydneysiders up to 40% when compared to bookings made late in the year.
“While it may seem early to be thinking about your Christmas travel plans, it really does pay to plan ahead and book your airfares in August where data suggests prices are more wallet friendly,” Skyscanner travel expert Emily Cairns said.
“We know from Skyscanner data that December is the most expensive month to fly, so we encourage travellers who are keen to travel at that time to take advantage and book in advance to help them pocket more savings during the silly season.”
