REVIEW: Round the World Leg 2-3 - Lufthansa Business Class (Tokyo to Munich and Toronto)

Parts two and three of our RTW review sees Traveltalk continue from Japan to Germany, then on to Toronto with Lufthansa.

Our RTW journey continues on Lufthansa's Airbus A350 from Tokyo to Munich.

Leg 2: Tokyo to Munich (Lufthansa)

Aircraft: Airbus 350

Seat Configuration: 2-2-2

Duration: 14hrs 30min

Without changing terminals, we were able to connect with our Haneda-Munich leg with Lufthansa. Seated in 6A and 6B, there was plenty of storage for personal items and electronics but no retractable screens between seats, although the distance between seats made the area fairly private.

A pillow, blanket and mattress cover were provided to make the lie-flat bed more comfortable. Toiletries and slip-on slides were also provided in an A4-sized zip bag that I will reuse as a clothes bag in my suitcase. There was also a USB charger for mobile devices.

Dinner meal selection was excellent with three choices of mains: veal, sea bream, and chicken dishes with an international wine list. I really enjoyed the 2018 Schloss Vollrads Riesling.

The AKG headphones were great. I did a movie marathon of three movies with excellent sound quality. Given the length of the flight there were snack options available between meals and a variety of German confectionery, such as sea salt chocolate, and nuts.

Flight attendants were friendly and efficient and responsive to requests for cold express meals on demand such as roast beef salad or smoked trout or cheese platter. There was a dinner service before we touched down in Munch.

Lufthansa's Airbus A350 is now taking us across the Atlantic to North America.

Leg 3: Munich to Toronto (Lufthansa)

Aircraft: Airbus 350

Seat Configuration: 2-2-2

Duration: 8hrs 55min

After a side trip to Florence, our next leg was Munich to Toronto on Lufthansa, leaving 3:50PM.

We had been scheduled to catch an 11:50 AM flight that day but missed the connection due to a delay elsewhere. The Lufthansa airport service desk was very helpful in getting us on the 3.50pm flight same day.

We were seated in the middle two seats of row 5 of the Business class cabin, and received the same amenities as on the previous flight with the exception of the secondary mattress, which for some reason was not handed out this time.

The toiletries came in handy Porsche Design glasses case that I have since reused to rehome a stray pair of sunglasses!

Meals were excellent quality with a choice of veal, seafood and vegetarian dishes. There were snacks available throughout and another meal served prior to landing as per our previous flight. Meals were beautifully presented on white tablecloths with courteous service.

Entry into Toronto was smooth and fast and we were in the arrivals hall within 20 minutes.
