Virgin Australia has a new home in Perth

Traveltalk checks out Virgin Australia's new Perth terminal (and likes what it sees).

Perth residents and visitors are in for a treat if they book Virgin Australia's domestic services out of Perth from 22 November with the official opening of Perth Airport's Terminal 1 (T1) Domestic Pier.

The new T1 Domestic Pier houses an impressive 22 shiny new check-in desks, a large Virgin Australia lounge (double the old size) and a well set out central retail and dining area with plenty of food and shopping options.

T1 also has innovative sustainable design features such as LED lighting, double glazing and external louvres to help reduce energy consumption.

The centrepiece of the whole area is a stunning 30 metre long suspended copper sculpture designed by Carly Scoufos.

Virgin Australia’s passengers can now transfer seamlessly between regional, interstate and international services in one convenient location.

Traveltalk attended a sneak preview of the new T1 terminal, which was launched by WA Premier Colin Barnett, Perth Airport CEO Brad Geatches and Virgin Australia boss John Borghetti late last week.
