Tourism Authority of Thailand (Australia) will host its annual “Amazing Thailand Roadshow” in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney between the 12th and 18th May.
TAT’s marketing plan for 2016 promises to focus on promoting the kingdom as a “Quality Leisure Destination through Thainess”, with a plan that will see tourism play a major role in enhancing social integration and preserving the environment. 2016 will also see a renewed focus on high-end luxury travel product as well as specialist and niche tourism interests such as golf, health and wellness, weddings and honeymoons.
H.E. Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports said, “Under the Royal Thai Government’s national tourism development plan for 2016-2017, we plan to disperse income to local communities nationwide as well as build a better quality of life for the local people, strengthening the communities, and promoting the preservation of Thai culture and traditions.”
Dr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT said, “Community-based tourism is a global trend. Today, travellers are in search for tourism products and services that take into account the environmental, economical, and social sustainability. This is a new aspect of tourism that TAT will be gearing toward for future tourism development of Thailand.”

Operators from well known destinations such as Phuket, Koh Samui and Bangkok will be joined by upcoming destinations such as Khaolak, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

Agents are also encouraged to become Thailand Experts by completing the 3-part online training course. The course has been designed to give travel professionals practical and important information about Thailand, from answers to visitor’s FAQs; such as the best time to go to Thailand, how to get around, things to see and do, where to get reliable and up-to-date information and some useful travel tips. This is an opportunity for travel professionals to learn more about destinations beyond the mainstream and encourage travellers to spend more time exploring Thailand.
The workshop, which can be found here: http://www.thailandtraining.com.au/, is split into 3 components, and covers Thailand’s more popular attractions as well as the unseen and untouched alternate destinations.
